Description of the resort complex
The Dutch-style windmill belonging to a local manor is located 9 km before Virtsu, in the village of Pivarootsi in Western Estonia, 700 m walk from the sea. The windmill was built in 1869 and restored in 2004.
A holiday village has been built around a Dutch-style windmill; a holiday house, a family house, a sauna house and 3 garden houses. Nearby there is a tennis court, mini golf courses and barbecue facilities which are free of charge. The host family lives nearby.
When driving to Saaremaa, the Pivarootsi windmill holiday village is before Virtsu harbour 9 km, which is a good place to holiday. When booking two or more nights, each subsequent night is cheaper and the fifth night is free. Kuressaare 90 km, Haapsalu 70 km and Pärnu 60 km are an hour's drive away and Tallinn 130 km is two hours away. This is a good option for one night on the island or in the capital.
We offer the opportunity to play tennis, mini golf and ride a bicycle, by booking in advance. We recommend visiting the Puhtulaiu Peninsula Nature Reserve 7 km across the bay and Matsalu International Nature Reserve 25 km. Beautiful natural places is Tuhu swamp 18 km and Salevere grove mountain 20 km. Bird watching is available in spring and autumn.
Today, the first floor of the windmill houses a dining room with an open kitchen and a small sauna complex consisting of a dressing room, laundry room and steam room. The second floor has a fireplace hall and a private bedroom (suite) with its own bathroom. The large round room on the third floor is usually used as a conference venue. The fourth floor houses the Museum of Soviet-era Estonian Applied Arts. The fifth-floor roof gallery offers a wonderful view of the landscape and the sea. A tour of the windmill is available upon request.
