Il mulino a vento in stile olandese, appartenente a una tenuta locale, si trova 9 km prima di Virtsu, nel villaggio di Pivarootsi, nell' Estonia occidentale, a 700 metri a piedi dal mare. Il mulino a vento fu costruito nel 1869 e restaurato nel 2004.
Attorno a un mulino a vento in stile olandese è stato costruito un villaggio vacanze: una casa vacanze, una casa per famiglie, una sauna e 3 casette da giardino. Nelle vicinanze si trovano un campo da tennis, campi da minigolf e attrezzature per barbecue, tutti gratuiti. La famiglia ospitante vive nelle vicinanze.
Raggiungendo Saaremaa in auto, il villaggio vacanze con mulino a vento di Pivarootsi si trova prima del porto di Virtsu, a 9 km, ed è un'ottima scelta per le vacanze. Prenotando due o più notti, ogni notte successiva è più economica e la quinta notte è gratuita. Kuressaare (90 km), Haapsalu (70 km) e Pärnu (60 km) sono raggiungibili in un'ora di auto, mentre Tallinn (130 km) è raggiungibile in due ore. Questa è un'ottima soluzione per una notte sull'isola o nella capitale.
Offriamo la possibilità di giocare a tennis, minigolf e andare in bicicletta, prenotando in anticipo. Consigliamo di visitare la Riserva Naturale della Penisola di Puhtulaiu, a 7 km dall'altra parte della baia, e la Riserva Naturale Internazionale di Matsalu, a 25 km. Splendidi luoghi naturali sono la palude di Tuhu, a 18 km, e il boschetto di Salevere, a 20 km. In primavera e in autunno è possibile praticare il birdwatching.
Oggi, il primo piano del mulino a vento ospita una sala da pranzo con cucina a vista e un piccolo complesso sauna composto da spogliatoio, lavanderia e bagno turco. Il secondo piano ospita una sala con camino e una camera da letto privata (suite) con bagno privato. L'ampia sala circolare al terzo piano è solitamente utilizzata come sala conferenze. Il quarto piano ospita il Museo di Arti Applicate Estone dell'era sovietica. La galleria sul tetto al quinto piano offre una splendida vista sul paesaggio e sul mare. È possibile visitare il mulino a vento su richiesta.
